The Star Wars trilogies are some of the best movies ever made. I grew up with the "original" trilogy and since that day back in 1977, I've been hooked. While the originals will always hold a special place in my heart, I also loved the newer films. George Lucas did a great job filling in the back stories of the events which led up to the destruction of the Emperor and redemption of Darth Vader. Drama, action and special effects at its best.
Over the years I've watched all the episodes many times and still haven't bored of them. The movies contain all the great elements of a solid storyline with interesting characters and conflicts. Unfortunately, with the good sometimes come the bad, and a few of the Star Wars characters are no exception. Many of the characters came full circle, other grew, while others, well just came and just wouldn't leave. The latter didn't possess an aura of welcome and I felt were nothing more than a nuisance and interruption to the script.
*Jar Jar Binks. Without a doubt, Jar Jar is undoubtedly the worst creation ever written in any of the Star Wars flicks. The character was not only annoying, but really served no plot purpose at all except to fill in some key moments with his utter stupidity. His dullard existence is not even remotely an integral part of the story and after watching the newer Episodes, I still can't figure out why he's even on the screen? If it was supposed to be comic relief, it failed miserably; if he was supposed to be interesting, it was even more of a malfunction.
*Jabba the Hutt. OK, as a kid, I didn't find him so bad, but as I re-watched the movies years later, the blob began to grate on my nerves and I'm probably in the minority on this one. There were a million other plot points where Han Solo could have had his conflict in owing money, but to be captured by a large splotch who did nothing but eat gross things and babble incoherently wasn't entertaining; even worse when the subtitles were removed in the "touched up" scenes. Even his death I couldn't muster myself enough to cheer, it was more a sigh of relief. Good riddance.
*C-3PO. Probably a useful character, but his irritating know-it-all attitude and tendency to non-stop babble made me want to pull his circuits short and stick him in the recycle bin.
Honorable Mentions:
*Luke Skywalker. When I was younger, I thought he was great and the best thing since sliced bread. Han Solo was a second in my book, but years later as I watched him in the original movies I couldn't
