Is homosexuality natural?

Homosexuality is natural. Notice I didn't say "normal". I said "natural". However, that which is natural is not necessarily good. For example, lust is natural for human beings. So are: envy, unforgiveness, hatred, racism, misogyny, dishonesty, and greed. Those are all perfectly natural for human beings.

They can all be explained by something called "sinful nature". Human nature is sinful nature. The Bible tells us that humans were created good. But He also gave us the freedom to make choices. When given the opportunity, Adam and Eve made the wrong choice. Because of that, human beings have the propensity to make the wrong choice. To sin. Human nature is sinful. In other words, for human beings, sin is natural.

The mistake we're making in our culture is to equate that which is natural with that which is good. When we leave God out of the equation, humanity becomes the centre of our universe. If we believe that life as we know it was brought about by a long series of accidents starting with a Big Bang, then it's easy to imagine that what has been formed by that process must be good. Evolution teaches that we're getting gradually better through natural processes. And if humanity is the center of our universe, then our logic would assume that anything that is natural to human beings must be good. If we take God out of the equation, we have no other barometer than human nature.

The truth is there is a God who loves us, created us, and who wants us to choose His will. And that which is good comes from God. That which is not good is opposed to God. Remember that human nature tends to make the selfish choice, which is opposed to God. Human nature tends to make wrong choices, even though they're natural choices. What God tells us is sin is still sin, no matter how natural it may seem. In our fallen, selfish, human nature, we need God's help to make the right choices, and some of them are going to be a lot harder than others. But just because it's hard doesn't make it wrong. The easy path isn't necessarily the right one.

We tread a slippery slope when we begin to justify, and even glorify, natural behaviours, emotions, and attitudes. If we do, we open the door to justifying all manner of evil, just because it comes naturally. Then we're in trouble.
