If you've just bought an iPhone you may well be wondering where all the amazing video games are. Well the answer fundamentally to that question is that, in terms of specific games devised for the iPhone erm, they are still in development.
The first thing to realise is that Apple have not loaded any games at all on the iPhone. This is a shock to start with, as most mobile phones come with one or two, even if only of the "snake" variety.
But one or two companies have come to the rescue of the games-mad iPhone user and produced some for you. But without flash capability, what you can download is currently limited. So the video game fan will probably find him or herself playing old favourites like Tetris, Solitaire, or Pac-man or some slightly newer ones like Sudoku, but none will come anywhere near using the great capacity your iPhone has, because they are javascript games, as the iPhone does not have the ability to handle Flash through it's unique browser, Safari.
Right now you can log on to MacMost using Safari and find a range of javascript games designed for the iPhone: These include:
* Collapsing Blocks you remove blocks as they fall by clicking on groups of the same colour
* Match 3 it's your job to line up three of the same shape
* Sliding puzzle you slide the pieces around to complete the puzzle
* Minesweeper can you predict the position of the mines?
* Knight and Squire Search find the treasure and kill the dragon
* Assassin play against other iPhone users
* Word Spell arrange the letters to form words
* Add it Up quickly select numbers from a grid
* Pyramid the solitaire card game where you
* Video Poker which MacMost say is similar to the Vegas machines
* Solitaire the classic card game
* Deduction can you guess the pattern?
* Chicken and Eggs you have to catch the falling eggs
* Sudoku
* Word Search
* Missile Command the classic shoot'em game
* Reversi take your opponent's pieces by turning them your colour
* Jigsaw puzzle
* Maze game
* Think Ahead a numbers game you play against your iPhone
Apart from the obvious disadvantage that you can not play full Java or Flash games on your iPhone, you also can not download them to play from your iPhone itself you have you use them in Apple's web browser Safari. This means that you can't play them if you are not in a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Many of these games will be familiar from other platforms, and it is a reasonable feeling from an iPhone
