Reiki explained

Reiki is an holistic Japanese technique - a simple, safe and natural method of spiritual healing. It treats the whole person, body, mind and spirit and leaves you with a wonderful glowing radiance and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Dr Mikao Usui who was born in 1865 was the founder of Reiki In 1914, Dr Usui's personal and business life was at an all-time low and he decided to go away and meditate to think deeply about his future. He traveled to a holy mountain in Japan on a training course. After fasting and meditating for several weeks, he received the key to healing' when the great Reiki energy entered his being and he was given some symbols.

On his way down from the mountains, he came across a sick man. He laid his hands on him, and the symbols came into his mind, and the man was healed. Reiki connected him to higher powers, and the energy passed through his hands to heal the man.

Reiki remained in Japan for the next twenty years and then the healing secret was given to a Japanese woman from Hawaii who went on to open a clinic in her home country. From there the art of Reiki has spread to many western countries where it is widely practiced today.

Reiki is a spiritually guided life force energy. It is used beneficially on almost every illness sometimes with miraculous results. Used in conjunction with other medical treatments, it helps to eliminate side-effects and promotes a speedy recovery.

Although Reiki is a spiritual healing method, it works on everyone no matter what their beliefs. We all have life force energy' flowing through our bodies. Reiki healers believe that ill-health and disease stem from a disruption of life force. Treatment will restore balance and harmony by the laying on of hands to channel life energy through the Reiki master with the release of healing power.

People who believe in the benefits of Reiki treatments find that they have great vitality and energy, are relaxed within themselves, and have a positive outlook to life.
The word Reiki is made up of two Japanese words Rei which means God's Wisdom' and Ki which is life force energy'. Together they mean spiritually guided life force energy'.

Today, Reiki is well respected as a healing touch', and there are now an estimated 500,000 Reiki Masters throughout the world.
