SAFETY OF TERMINATING A PREGNANCY
Termination of pregnancy, or having an abortion that results in not delivering a baby, is an of the biggest and often most difficult decisions a woman can make in her lifetime. Women are those who have a responsibility of raising the children and accordingly they are the ones that have the right to decide to terminate pregnancy, especially if carrying pregnancy to the full term is posing a major health risk for them or if the baby is not developing as it normally should.
Once the decision to terminate a pregnancy is made there is no going back, therefore woman has to be sure that she has made the right decision considering her circumstances.
Ii is advisable that woman should talk about her decision to a family member, or a close friend, to make sure that she is really doing what is right for her, and not to regret it later in life. If woman has any doubts or reservations about terminating a pregnancy she should consider adoption as a solution of her problem.
However before deciding to terminate a pregnancy woman should always contact her GP and consult with him about the appropriate and safest way to do it. It is also very important that woman should learn about safety issues of terminating a pregnancy before she makes her final decision to go trough with it.
DIFFERENT WAYS TO TERMINATE A PREGNANCY AND THEIR SAFETY
1. MEDICAL
Medical termination of pregnancy is suitable for pregnancies up to 9 weeks old and it consist of taking two drugs: mifepristone and stanglandin, 48 hours apart from one another.
If woman is advised by her physician that she can use medical termination of pregnancy she takes two different drugs that have the effect of causing the the womb to contract and shed its lining. In this way the embryo is lost trough the vagina, in much the same way as it happens during an miscarriage. Although this process works like a natural miscarriage this process can be very painful and some woman can feel ill and vomit or have diarrhea when they take the medications for terminating a pregnancy. Because this final stage of pregnancy termination is usually done at home it is highly advisable that woman should have someone close to her by her side to help her go safely to all emotional and physical pain of this procedure.
Note that women who suffer of health problems such as: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, long therm asthma treatment with corticosteroid medications, taking any sort of anticoagulants are not suitable candidates
