will need. Some of these will be the traditional paper plates, cooking utensil, food, plenty of ice, and beverage. Consider also on this list, additional toilet paper if a port-a-pot is being used, garbage bags, jumper cables (just in case), a first aid kit that has sunscreen and other necessary supplies, and rain gear, because Mother Nature isn't always co-operative.

Make certain that you fly the flag of the home team, high and proud. Include on that pole something that will identify your spot to stragglers that couldn't make it to the meeting spot. A window washing extension pole from a local hardware can be easily carried when closed and yet will telescope out to create an easily visible flagpole. Also decorate your site and yourself in the school colors. And by all means, don't forget a portable television.

Plan the food to be ready at least an hour and before the game. There are probably a few folks that will want to go into the stadium, and this will give them plenty of time to eat. Some wonderful additions to the list of food can be grilled steaks with sides of grilled onions and peppers, hamburger with various types of cheese toppings melted to perfection, and even a pot of thick rich chili. Because of the popularity of the Tailgate party various Internet sites and magazines have devoted entire sections to the food.

Here are a few ideas that might make your mouth water.

NO GRILL-NO PROBLEM

Sandwiches are always a treat and simple to prepare ahead. If you are using items that could be perishable in the heat make certain that you take appropriate measures to keep the food safe. Some popular cold sandwiches are chicken salad, ham, ham salad, tuna, egg salad and seafood salad sandwiches. A super-sized submarine sandwich ordered ahead and picked up the day of the party is also another simple treat that requires only money and forethought. Other cold main course treats are cold fried chicken and a deli tray with Kaiser Rolls and fixings to build your own sandwich.

A variety of cold plates with vegetables and dips, spinach dips and bread, and cheese trays are a great addition. Cold pasta salads and vegetable salads are a great addition and the variety is only as great as the number of guests that bring them.

GRILLING ON THE GO.

If a large grill is part of your party, your choices of foods become unlimited. There are various hot soups and stews that transport well and can be made ahead of time. A chili cook off can be added as part of the festivities for your group,
