How to have the most popular tailgate party in the parking lot

Tailgating with a Street Rod Club

The fall brings a great many opportunities for auto enthusiasts that may not have been explored before. There are always new places to show off "the ride". A very novel and entertaining place is at a Tailgate party. If you live anywhere near a college football stadium, it would be worth a Saturday trip to have an official Tailgate party for your group. The planning doesn't need to take forever, and could include a little competition; as long as you are all together it is bound to be fun. The best part of all the effort is the friendships, the food, and the fun of the football and cars. A combination that seldom is boring.

The first step in planning any event is making certain that there are attendees. Go through the list of your club or organization and make certain that every member gets an invitation. Other friends and relatives should be invited also, because, the more the merrier. Make certain that the invitation specifies a time and a place to leave from. Traveling in a pack is the best way of staying together, although, because of the increased popularity of Tailgating, many Universities have designated spots in parking lots that you can reserve. Stricter rules are now being enforced at many universities pertaining to alcoholic beverage. If that is an important issue to you, consider the Tailgate party being held in your back yard or driveway.

Make certain that the time on the invitation will allow your arrival time at the site about 3-4 hours early. Most people plan for the trip home to begin about two hours after the game has ended. This allows the time after the game for conversation, clean up, and most of all, avoiding the crowd that is exiting the stadium. Also decide ahead of time whether it will be a group meal or individual decisions, you can include it on the invitation. A group meal makes it easier for all parties concerned. The person planning the party can frequently be in charge of the meat, with the others bringing side dishes.

The simpler the better should be the motto, but the tailgate party has grown from simply carrying supplies in the trunk, to entire corporations with hospitality booths. Some ideas for a get together will of course include the food. Most tailgaters have a grill of sorts and cook out under the open sky. Because of the popularity of Tailgate Parties and traveling meals, grills that attach to your vehicles have been designed and are sold about everywhere.
