Motivating employees is necessary for all employers to accomplish and maintain for a successful business. Once employees are motivated and pleased with their job then they perform with their best abilities. This leaving them to do their job correctly and getting it right the first time. With this article I am debating that money is more important in motivating the employees than recognition. I mean really let us talk about the reason they work there in the first place. Is it to just be appreciated or is it for a paycheck? I figure that once you are truthful in asking yourself this question then the answer provides itself to the question of is money or recognition more appreciated.
I mean every year that your employer gives you a certificate for a turkey for thanksgiving and yes, that is expensive but the price would have looked better on the paycheck because it is money you spent your way and not in a determined take or do without gift. So, once you choose to do ham instead turkey for thanksgiving then that money would have definitely looked better on the paycheck.
My personal favorite is at the place you work you managed to get hurt. So your boss or supervisor decides to take up donations from your other co-workers to get you something to show that you were thought of. Well, the thought is nice but with being hurt and out of work you will more likely appreciate the money taken up then the flowers and card it purchased. I mean seriously, for a single person living alone, the cost of a dozen roses and a nice card is just enough for sandwich stuff and can foods for a least a week. The roses will normally die by that time.
Money is the source that makes the world go round. I am not the first to say that but I strongly agree with the statement. Making money is the reason we get out of bed every morning to work. To make money and pay our bills and have money to do things. So for a person to feel that they do not make enough money at their job leaves them feeling as though they could care less whether or not they got fired because it doesn't provide for them as they would like for it too.
To give money such as bonuses and raises gives the employee reason to hold on and hope for a better financial position. They think alright I have just received a raise and maybe after another period of time with my job performance getting better than I will be receiving another raise or even before then a bonus for the holidays.
I mean it is only common sense that money is more important than recognition because really the reason of even wanting to be noticed is to show the employer that they are worth the money they are getting paid and more once they opportunity arises to get it.
