How does someone become a Christian

Becoming a Christian is much more than just joining a church. And it is much more than believing in God. Even the demons know that God exists. Belief alone and church membership will not make you a Christian. And as important as baptism is, the sacrament of baptism will not make you a Christian. That is why I reject infant baptism. It is nice to see, but it is not scriptural.

I am certain that there will be many, very disappointed people on Judgment day. Like Cain, Nimrod and many others, people want to set up their own way to God. God made the way to forgiveness and true Christian living so simple.

Man has complicated God's way and created rituals, programs, rules, regulations and all sorts of activities (basically to make money and control people.) This is fine; if you like rituals; but it has nothing to do with the Word of God and becoming a Christian.

There is only one way to become a Christian. It is the way that Jesus and the early church taught. It is the same way the three thousand men and women became Christians during Peter's sermon on the day of Pentecost!

In John chapter three, Jesus told Nicodemus "unless a man is born again he will not see the Kingdom of Heaven." When Nicodemus asked Jesus to explain, Jesus made it VERY clear that a person must be "born into the Kingdom of God." Jesus also explained that it is the Holy Spirit that makes that happen. Of course I am paraphrasing.

We are BORN into the Kingdom of God. Christ was quite clear on this point. Jesus told his disciples that "no one can even come to God unless the Holy Spirit draws him." He made it clear and very simple!

Being born again is not a movement or religious sect. It is a definite, tangible experience. When the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, he told her that the Holy Spirit would over-shadow her; and place within her body the seed of the savior, Jesus Christ. It is the same for us, who are born into God's kingdom. The Holy Spirit places the very seed of Christ into our bodies. Not the physical seed, but the very nature of Christ. The writings of the early Church and especially the letters of the Apostle Paul is replete with this truth!

The Holy Spirit overshadows us and places within our spirit, the very nature of God. Of course we must give up our old life, embrace the passion of our Lord and turn away from sin and evil. We must totally and without reserve dedicate ourselves to God's value system.

Of course we must be baptized IN water! Water baptism unites us with the death, burial
