Why God Punishes Evil When He Has Given Us Free Will?
This is NOT a simple question because you first need to understand what evil is and how it came upon us, and what free will means.
How did evil come about? Let me explain.
God wanted a family so He made earth, planted a picturesque garden and then created Adam and Eve. Since there was no sin on the earth at that time, the garden was Holy, and God is Holy, and He visited them often. They had a beautiful relationship and life was good.
But sadly, Lucifer (the devil) disguised himself as a serpent and deceived Eve into believing that God lied to them, and that they would not die if they ate the forbidden fruit, but rather, would become as smart as God. So, they ate it.
In doing so they disobeyed, thus committing sin, and so sin was now in them. Their "holiness" was gone. God cast them out of the garden and into the presence of the rest of the earth, which they now had to work hard at to keep productive.
God loved Adam and Eve and hurt sorely when He was separated from His children. They were now filled with sin and He couldn't be around them because of it. It's like trying to put two positive magnetic ends together; they can't touch. Can you imagine His hurt?
God already had an issue with Lucifer and had created Hell, a tormenting final destination for all evil. Since the devil had now infiltrated man with his sin, it had become their destination, as well. So anyone who had sin in them would go to Hell at their death.
God immediately planned a redemption mission to save His children. He needed to remove this sin from them so they would be pure and go to Heaven to be with Him forever.
Since all mankind was now sinful, He needed someone who would be human yet was not of the sinful lineage of man. Why? To be a sacrifice for us, to die in our place and pay the price of the punishment for us so we wouldn't have to.
So God planted his seed in Mary, and Jesus was born. He was human in every way except that there was no "sin" in him.
When He became an adult He was falsely accused of blasphemy and was nailed to the cross. Jesus was Holy because He had no sin in Him, but He was human and suffered unbelievable pain and anguish with the beatings and the torture of crucifixion. But, this was the plan from the beginning, to make Jesus a sacrifice for us. Why?
Since Jesus was sinless, at His death He would have immediately and rightfully gone directly to Heaven. But the plan was for Him to go to Hell and set us free
