A fit lifestyle involves taking care of three things: your body, your mind, and, your well-being. You don't have time, you say? Being fit is easier than you think. If you adhere to the 10 guidelines listed below, you will be on your way to a much healthier life.
The easiest thing to do is to take care of your body. You certainly don't have to spend hours at a gym to become physically fit. In fact, physical fitness can be obtained with just some minor changes to your every day activities.
1. Drink more water. You've probably read reports stating people should drink eight cups of water a day. Honestly, there is no medical evidence that shows water makes you healthier. However, the alternatives to water are things like soda and coffee. In moderation, these are not bad for you, but let's face it. The definition of in moderation has been stretched. One soda a day used to mean a 12-ounce can of Coca-cola. Now, one soda is a 24-ounce cup that we down with our meal and then refill before leaving. Same with coffee. One cup of black coffee is ok; a large double mocha latte with extra cream may be pushing the limits. You'll be surprised to find you don't need the caffeine to stay awake. Properly hydrated, you will find your energy levels to be quite high throughout the day.
2. Eat a healthy breakfast. This does not mean the healthy choice menu from McDonald's. A bowl of sugar-free cereal. Lightly buttered wheat toast. A glass of fruit juice. People argue they had an uncle that ate eggs, bacon, and grits every day, and he lived to be 90. I argue for every one of these people, there are 10 that try to do the same and have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and are in serious danger of contracting heart disease. Most people's pets eat healthier. Would you really consider feeding your dog two doughnuts and a cup of coffee for breakfast?
3. Take the stairs. Do you really need to take the elevator up one floor? There are many opportunities in our daily routines to help strengthen our bodies. Move through an airport rather than stand idly on the conveyor belt. Park your car and walk the extra 20 yards instead of circling for a close-in space. Ride your bike to the mini-mart. All these may take a bit longer, but you're body will thank you for the extra exercise.
4. Go running. People hate to hear this because they hate to run. But running is by far the easiest and least expensive way to get your heart rate up for 30 minutes. All you need is a pair of shoes. If you don't want
