there to make friends with strangers. As it's a highly sexualized environment, everybody is going to be a little edgy, homophobic, and creeped out no matter how nice the place is. Talk to the friends you went to the club with, but don't socialize with random people - they won't appreciate it.
Guideline six: Keep a drink in front of you. There's an unwritten rule in many strip clubs, but in most of them it's an explicit rule. You're there spending money, not just sitting around. If you walk in and occupy a seat, buy a drink. If you don't drink alcohol, buy a $5 soda and nurse it for 3 hours. Consider the cost of a couple of drinks to be a part of the price of the experience. Yes you'll pay way too much for your drinks, but they come with an atmosphere very different from that of Red Robin. That atmosphere costs money.
Guideline seven: Wear clean pants. This is something nobody ever thinks of, but pants that look clean, but aren't (like those blue jeans you wear every day and haven't washed in a month) will glow under black lights. Strip clubs are full of black lights; when you walk in wearing blue jeans that you've wiped chicken grease on only to find out that it glows white under the black light it's a mistake that you'll never make again. Avoid making that mistake the first time; you never look cool with mysterious glowing substances on your pants.
Guideline eight: Understand pervert's row. Any strip club will have a row of seating around the edge of the stage as well as tables back from the action. There's nothing wrong with sitting up next to the stage and there's nothing wrong with a table. You'll get a much better view at the stage and if you're there alone or with one friend, that's the place to be. If you want to order some food or have a larger group, it's best to get a table. Understand that if you sit in front of the stage and you're a good looking young guy (or you're throwing around some money) the girls will often pay special attention to you. If you like that kind of attention, go for it - if you don't want to be singled out by a dancer, stick to the tables.
Most important of all, have fun. You're there to enjoy yourself. Don't spend more money than you allot yourself before you go, don't do anything mean, don't get too drunk, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
