Testimonies: Time spent with my uncle

My Uncle wrote an article describing how I finally beat him one on one in a hoop game. I was going to write about the same game and thought that game had more meaning to him then it had to me because he was the one that got surprised.

My Uncle Tom is one of the funniest quick witted people I have ever met. I finally beat this man in sports but glory can only come when I can actually play a practical joke on him that is not only good but works. I love this story and think everyone will love it also.

Uncle Tom used to have a paper route in Lakewood when I was a kid. I used to stay the night so I could help him on the weekend. The first time I decided I would help him we drove all over Lakewood and came to this trailer park. Uncle Tom would drive and put the papers together and I would run them up to the doors. It had been a hour or so that we were out delivering and then we came up to this one particular trailer.

Tom being the adult and Uncle he was felt like it was his duty to protect me. So as we approached this trailer he tells me the guy is a Vietnam vet and is a little crazy. He tells me he does not like to be woke up and will charge out his house if you do and who knows what he might do. My Uncle says keep the car door open and sneak the paper up to his porch. He insured me he would not leave me and if the porch light comes on get back to the car and we will take off.

I got out of the car and creeped up on the trailer as if I was trying to escape from a P.O.W. Camp. I am tip toeing, hardly breathing, sweating and nervous. My Uncle is in the car watching me with an intense stare as if he is just as worried as I am. I make my move to the porch and as soon as I start setting the paper down the light turns on. I have now switched to Carl Lewis mode and start running for the car, my Uncle has the door open and is driving slow but fast enough I have to catch him and he is screaming come on Tony lets go. I jump into the car and me and my uncle are laughing how I escaped from the guy. I am so relieved nothing happened.

After wards we would stop and get donuts and hot chocolate and then head back to my Uncle's house. On the way back to his house he decided to break the news to me that the people that lived in the trailer were an older couple and that porch light was one of those NEW sensor lights and so it was going to turn on no matter what once I got near the sensor.

I have fell for 3 or 4 practical jokes since then and have got to the point where if he sent me out to get something or asked me to call someone I would pass. I never know when another joke will be played at my expense. My Uncle Tom is a great uncle and friend and always knows how to make you laugh even at yourself.
