Ideas, and and where they come from, are endless. I'm sitting in my recliner looking out the window of my second floor apartment at the beautiful sunny day out there. Oh, the beauty of nature that God gave us. This could be the start of a beautiful poem. There's something very inspirational about nature.
I'm lying in bed at night, unable to sleep. The dark stillness surrounds me. I just can't seem to calm myself enough to enter dreamland. Hundreds of thoughts enter my mind. The good, the bad, the ugly, all seem to be right there with me. I get out of bed, grab a glass of warm milk, and start scribbling. Who knows what I'll end up with.
I'm in the car, on my way home from a long days work. Wind and rain pound against the windshield. Will I ever get there I'm thinking, how many more miles do I have to go yet?
Past experiences seem to pop up out of nowhere. Some of them I remember are good ones. The birth of my children, my first grandchild, the Caribbean cruise we took on our 25th wedding anniversary to celebrate, are all good memories. A broken friendship, the sudden death of my sister, the house fire we had a few years ago, are things I'd like to forget but can't seem too.
All these things are what make us who we are today. All of them can be inspirations to tell a story.
I grab my pen and paper and start writing. I can't quit! "What should I write about next", I ask myself? Should I write a poem about last nights beautiful sunset? Should I write about the Nascar race we went to last weekend? The speed of those mean machines makes the hair stand up on your neck, the roar of the crowd, as their favorite racer sped by. It could be poetry, or it good be the start of a short story.
The world is full of ideas. Look around your home, take a walk down the block, look into the eyes of a loved one, open that door to creativity. You never know what you may find out there.
Let the mind, as well as the body, and your spirit takeover, and you're on your way. Delve into your inner self. You might be surprised at how much creative inspiration you really have.
There's no limit to the ideas out there in this big, wide world. The world has evolved to what it is today from ideas different individuals had. The computer, the cell phone, men in space, were all just ideas at one time. Today, we literally survive on these ideas and inventions.
Whether your idea comes from watching a television commercial, reading a newspaper, a sporting event you may have attended, or just a hug from a grandchild, it may inspire you to create. It could be a poem, an essay, a short story, or some other form of art, such as painting.
Stop, look, and listen. You'll be surprised at what a few moments of deep thought can bring you.
Then go for it. The sky's the limit. You may even inspire someone else to be inspired by your idea.
