Ahhhh, ten things, hummm...are people things? I think not and yet, I can't imagine writing about the things I love without including the people that are love and allow me to share the love I have in my life. So, with that caveat let's begin:
10. I love waking in the still of the morning...that moment of dawn when it seems that everything and everyone takes a collective breath and there is a magic stillness daring me to deny the wonder of a new day.
9. I love the chill of a wintry morning in Jackson Wyoming. The hoarfrost filling the once barren cottonwoods, the sun shinning with such brilliance that your eyes ache from the beauty; and pixie dust snow leaching out of the cold dry cloudless air.
8. I love the first spring day when, as you walk out into it, you stop and stare at the softness, newness and rebirth that drives those first inklings of spring fever. You walk a little slower and breathe a little deeper and begin to believe in your own rebirth and renewal.
7. I love being with the children in and amongst us who sit in their strollers or reluctantly follow their parents and then catch your eye. That moment when they go from bored or self absorbed to connecting with us; a flash of acknowledgment that passes between us, "Hi, I see you and I see you see me" with nary a word passing between us. I love the brightening smile that appears as they feel seen and acknowledged for just being.
6. I love walking in the forest with a friend, chatting about little nothings and then chatting not at all as we let the awe and wonder of where we are become part of our being. The small crunch of our footfalls, the rustle of the flora and fauna, the gentle breeze and filtered light mixed with the exertion of rising to the high lake meadow destination that is now just one more vista in the never ending path.
5. I love arriving at an airport, train station or port to begin a journey...that moment when you take your luggage and say your goodbyes and turn your thoughts to new places, things and possibilities. The end of routine and the beginning of NOW, a time of letting go.
4. I love the moment after I have collected my things, left the dock, airport or station and stopped to take in the newness of my surroundings. The small strangeness that let me know I am no longer home. The first moment where I am bursting with the desire to share with them, "I've just arrived..." and they say to me. "New in town?" and I know then I am here, transparent and alive.
3. I love the kindness
