Blogging for money is something that a great deal of people are hoping to do. They would like to turn something viewed as easy into something profitable. However, it isn't usually that simple. There are a lot of things that go into making money from blogging. There are a number of cons as well as pros.
Cons.
Because blogging for money isn't an easy thing to do, it is best to start with the cons of it. Most people love to hear about the pros and take them to mean that it is an easy and effective way to make money. However, there is a dark side to the story.
It Takes Time.
Making money from blogging takes time. You don't set up a blog today and have a full time income by tomorrow. It takes time to build the blog, to monetize it, and to make money from it. This time might be months and for some it is even years.
It Takes Work.
They say that to have a profitable and high traffic blog you should be posting a minimum of three times a week, but more like six or more times a week. This is a lot of posts, especially if you are writing real content which will draw people in and bring them back. It isn't enough to write something no one wants to read and no one comes back for. You have to have high quality content.
Do You Have Enough To Say?
It isn't enough to come up with a great idea, you have to have something to say about that topic. You have to be able to share with others what there is to know and to write a lot of content over a period of time, all based on the same concepts. This can be hard and challenging.
Burn Out.
Many bloggers burn out from the work and the fact that they don't make money with it long before they get to the point of actually earning. It is hard to keep motivated when you are told over and over again that you aren't making any money.
Pros.
While the cons often feel overwhelming, there are indeed pros to blogging for money.
Set Your Own Hours.
You can blog when you want and even where you want now a days. You can go on vacation and still keep up with your blogging! But on top of that you can blog at one in the morning or one in the afternoon. It only matters to you and not to anyone else.
Make a Living.
While it takes time, and effort, there are a lot of people out there today who make a living from their blogs. They stay home and do the things they love doing and make money for it! You could do that too, if you have what it takes and you work hard enough.
Love What You Do.
Most people hate their jobs, but most bloggers love them. They love what they do and do what they love. They skip out on the stuff they don't enjoy and the make money from things that they do enjoy. They write about their passions, be it movies or video games, or odd hobbies. They share what they love and have an excuse for continuing with it.
Deciding if blogging for money is for you, isn't an easy thing to do. Many jump on the boat, but only a few actually make money doing it. You will have to try it and see if you are in for the long haul and going to work to make your blog work for you.
