will close or severly limit the US base in Guantanamo, Cuba, where AMERICAN CITIZENS can be seized and held without legal redress and without compensation once released after being imprisoned for months or even years. Whatever plan Obama has for health care has to be a vast improvement over what we have at present - for workers that become unemployed, the choices are less than attractive: your typical options are to continue your previous coverage through COBRA at rates that will only be exceeded by monthly mortgages, or to pay for reduced, catatrosphe only coverage that will still cost over $100 per month.

THE UNITED STATES IS IN A CRISIS OF LEADERSHIP

- The present regime has disappointed, misled and ignored its citizens. President Bush has led a life of leisure and luxury by riding the coattails of his skilled father, the elder President Bush who did perform extraordinary service to his country in war time, as director of the CIA and as the 41st President. His son was handed five or six businesses, of which he ran all but the Texas Rangers Baseball Club into ruin and bankruptcy, unfortunately the last of these businesses that he ran into the ground has been the United States. The fundamental misrepresentations leading to the War in Iraq, the implementation of the PATRIOT ACT, the progress of the War on Terror and the responses to 9-11 each by themselves would lead one to doubt the government's policies and motives; taken together, America's crisis in belief in its leaders could not be more urgent.

- Senator Clinton is a Washington insider, closer to the policies and approaches of Republican candidate John McCain than not. In terms of leadership, fairly or not, she is tainted with the indiscretions of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, as she was certainly a participant, willing or not. She did support the invasion into Iraq and, more importantly, seems to waffle weekly in her positions domestically and internationally, while also making specious attacks on Senator Obama's character, background and experience.

- Of course, President Bush has to endorse Senator McCain; nevertheless, we all know the problems, many that will continue for decades, caused by the present regime. McCain's statement to do whatever it takes to continue the effort in Iraq, even if it takes 100 years, leads one to wonder what plans and strategies could possibly be in their collective minds, such that they deem it worth expending billions of dollars in the Middle East on a monthly basis at the expense of the American infra-structure at home.

Senator Obama will learn some lessons the hard way and will have to face the daunting obstacles of conservative opponents, lobbyists and other career politicians looking to make his progress impossible; again, standing on the threshold of becoming the first minority President in US history is testimony to his ability to overcome any obstacle in the pursuit of just causes.

Yes, We Can elect Senator Obama President of these United States! In fact, we must!
