Can doctors be fully trusted?
No. We should never take for granted what the doctor says is always the truth. For a lot of us, seeing the doctor last a full eight minutes, while he checks your eyes, ears and nose and you tell him what is wrong. He will decide what is wrong and prescribe for you the prescription needed. Then off he goes to his next patient. Probably a total of eighty or more in one day. There is no way this is quality medical care at its best.
Then when you leave, you go to the pharmacy, only to find by the pharmacist, you have a allergy to the medicine. The doctor was so busy he did not have time to check your list to see the medicines with allergy alerts. The pharmacy would call the doctor back, but now he has gone for the day. therefor, you have to wait till the next day, or worse, Monday.
Doctors are smart people, with high degrees. They worked hard to get to where they are in their practice. But they do tend to be busy people and take plenty for granted after a while. They are way too busy to listen and take in the full case, the whole profile of the patient they have. They stay under pressure trying to meet the needs of too many patients to care for. They also have their patients at the hospital to see, and there is always emergencies.
It is easy for them to appear to be listening to you, but actually, they are thinking of something else entirely. What is the most annoying, obnoxious thing for a doctor to do, when you have your eight minutes with the doctor, is when they are listening to your complaints and it is serious. But you are interrupted because his cell phone rings. It is home and the wife has a problem with drive way being poured or she wants him to buy something on the way home. Sometimes, doctors really do take their patients for granted.
I say, "You should always check what you get to fill at the pharmacy before you leave his office. If the doctor tells you, you have a disease or anything which is unusual for yourself, go get another opinion." Your life is too valuable to chance a mistake from a busy physician. Doctors are only human beings too. They make mistakes just like anyone else.
