What Americans want in a presidential candidate

What Americans want from a president are varied, yet similar in many ways. A few of the basics everyone wants, I will list.

1. A fix to the struggling economy. With out of control gas prices, foreclosures at an all time high, food prices rising everyday, Americans agree that we need a solution to these issues today. Candidates views vary on how they will accomplish this, but they all agree we need answers to these issues.

2. Bring our troops home from the war. There's no quick process to do this. Whether we feel they should be over there or not, pulling them out before this war is resolved could only add more fuel to the already growing fire. They need to finish the job they were sent to do, and the quicker the better. We certainly don't want them back there again in a year or two.

3. Affordable health care for all individuals. Hillary Clinton proposed a plan when Bill Clinton was president. That plan never got off the ground. If she's elected president, maybe she will have better luck with it this time around.

These are just a few issues Americans want answers too, no matter who the presidential candidate is. Unless you're walking around with blinders on, you know their is no simple answers to these issues. It's going to take a lot of "teamwork" to get these very complex issues resolved. It's not going to happen overnight, either.

Americans want an honest, straightforward individual, I feel. They don't want someone who makes all kinds of promises, and as soon as he gets into office, all the promises go out the window. That's happened too many times already.

Some people want Hillary Clinton to be president. She's an intelligent female. We haven't had a female president before. Maybe she would help women with some of the issues that seem to plague them in the business world as well as the job market. We as women are lagging behind men in both of these areas.

Barack Obama would be the first black president if he were elected. Could he help move the country forward with racial issues? We've come a long way since the days of slavery, but some feel we still have a long way to go.

John McCain is our front runner for the Republican party. Would he take over where Bush left off, or would give the party a whole new outlook?

There's no quick fix solution to the problems our nation is facing. One individual is not going to solve all the worlds problems. There's only one supreme being, and that's the good lord.
Americans want someone who will lead us in the right direction, and God willing, we will elect a president who will do that.
