What to do if your iPod freezes

Just about everyone in America has some kind of music player. The old and popular way of listening to music on the move was the Walkman. It could play CD's so you could bring all your favorite music anywhere with you. But now, technology has advanced and the current most popular way of listening to music is the iPod. But even if the iPod is advanced compared to the old Walkman, there are still many problems that the user can experience when using it. The most common problem is the iPod freezing on the user.

Sometimes, when you are using the iPod, it will suddenly freeze on you. This happens to everyone eventually. Either the iPod has been dropped too many times or its been worn out a lot through constant usage. But there are many quick and easy ways to remedy the problem.

The first thing that you should check is whether or not your iPod is actually frozen. Try scrolling around. If a picture of a lock is there, that means that you put your iPod on "Hold" and all you must do is simply go to the top of the iPod and flick the switch to the other side.

If there was no picture of the lock, then hold on the play and the menu button until it turns off. After it turns off, then you should be able to turn it back on with no problem. This solution is for the older generations.

For a 4G (Fourth Generation) iPod, then you flick the switch to "Hold", then flick it back. After that, hold down the Menu and the Select button.

The above is a soft reset. If nothing happened and the screen is still frozen, then allow the battery to die and then go charge it. After charging it, attempt to turn it on. If the problem is still not fixed, then hook it back up to your computer and use the iPod updater and click on "Restore". This will wipe your iPod of all its songs and other files.

If none of these solutions work and you have a warranty, then send it back and try to get it replaced. And if you don't have a warranty, then you can try bringing it to the store that you bought it from and ask if they can help. If the problem persists in the old one, then I will advise that you use a different type of music player. iPods are nice, but are prone to many problems.
