Johnny Depp or Gene Wilder's version of Willy Wonka

Well, considering that Gene Wilder is the man, and Tim Burton, yes, is also the man, we call all make mistakes in our successful careers.

Gene Wilder's Version:

A wonderful world of candy and obese children (my apologizes to the Gloops), this 70's version gave audience the most wonderful look into the critically beloved book, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." The performance given by Gene was adored, giving people the impression that he was an insane genius. We accepted this role he played. The fake candy, the bright colors, and those freaky Oompa Loompas were all done with such grace that would could all be kids again, and believe in the unbelievable. Charlie Bucket's role was done innocently, capturing the yearning he had for wealth in his poor, but lovable family. The music too, was enjoyable, being very catching and causing people to sing it for weeks. Who knew Gene could sing? This was a musically masterpiece, watched by families and stoners alike. The Wonka Bar sensation was humorously done, with scenes of desperation and pure idiomatic torment. This version is the best, by far.

Johnny Depp's Version:

Now, I love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton with a passion, but this was a big mistake for both of their careers. The music was great, Danny Elfman is awesome, but everything else was actually pretty disturbing. The Oompa Loompas were all one guy, digitally multiplied. All the characters had a sick, bulged eye look that wasn't needed. Willy Wonka's wardrobe was pretty sweet, with his velvet coat and black and white swirled "candy" cane. The hair, the skin, and the voice all resembled Michael Jackson way too much. The basic color scheme was well invented, with reds and yellows galore, but I, like many people, growled at this innocent attempt to re-do what cannot be redone. This movie received bad ratings, and was spit upon by Hollywood and the normal world. Luckily, Tim Burton had a decent comeback with "Corpse Bride", an animated feature with Johnny Depp.

Gene Wilder's Version still remains the only Willy Wonka who needs to be credited.
