HANDICAPPED
I met a man who couldn't see the, sunburnt clouds nor a flowering tree
He couldn't see the beauty rare of the dawning day, nor the promise there
He never saw a Rainbow span but he said to me, "There's a master plan"
He smiled as he went his sightless way, bidding me a happy day
I knew a girl who couldn't hear, the rainbirds cry nor the song so clear
In the symphony that nature sings
Through the birds and bugs, the whispering winds
She couldn't hear this song of mine
She wrote "Tough Luck, there's no use crying."
I knew a man who had no hands, they got blown off in Viet-Nam
Grinned and offered a stump to shake, watched to see if I'd back away
Smiled the smile of many years, he used to hide the hurt and tears
Showed me a mirror so I could see, the handicapped one is really me
For I couldn't see the hand held there
Nor hear the song in the deaf girl's ears
I couldn't see what the blind man saw
As he gazed to a light on a different shore
All I could see was the HANDICAP then I saw the senses are just a trap
I learnt we are all the same, as we tread the path of this living game
