How to put videos on your iPod classic

One of the many great features of the iPod classic is the ability to watch videos from movies, TV shows, video podcasts, and even music videos. It's easy to put this media on your iPod, and by reading this post you should be well on your way to watching great video on your iPod classic.

Downloading iTunes

Before you can add videos to your iPod classic, you must first download the free iTunes music program which will put the video onto your iPod. You can download the latest version of iTunes at http://www.apple.com/itunes/

Cr eating an iTunes Store account

Once you've successfully downloaded and installed iTunes, the next step is creating an iTunes Store account, which will give you access to all of the great content on its web site. To create an iTunes Store account, open iTunes, and click the link "Store" or "iTunes Store", then "Create Account". Once you follow the instructions and set up an account, you can start downloading from the iTunes Store.

Finding Video on the iTunes Store

As I said earlier, you can several different kinds of video onto your iPod such as movies, TV shows, music videos, and video podcasts. With the exception of video podcasts, you have to purchase the videos before you can download them. Most of them are relatively cheap, but if you are on a tight budget, the iTunes Store has great video podcasts.

When you know what kind of video you want to purchase and download, click its corresponding link in the iTunes Store list on the left hand side of the screen or you can search for the item by title, artist, or album. Once you've found the video you want to buy, click the link that says:

"Buy Video" for music videos
"Buy Movie" for full length movies
"Buy Episode" for TV or podcasts

Once the video is purchased it will begin downloading into your iTunes program.

Finding and Adding Other Videos

If you have videos you found outside of the iTunes Store, from other web sites, or maybe a video you've made, you can add these videos as well to your iPod, but you may need to make them compatible first. In order to do this, you must import the video into iTunes by dragging the file into your iTunes library. To convert the video file to work on the iPod you have to click the "Advanced" menu and then "Convert Selection to iPod". This will create a copy of the video that will be compatible with your iPod.

Putting Your Videos onto iPod Classic

Once you have your videos ready to go, connect your iPod to your computer with the USB cable that came with your iPod. iTunes will automatically open up, and will display you iPod on screen. You can video directly to iPod in one three ways:

The first way is to add the songs onto your iPod classic manually. This involves you dragging and dropping the individual videos in iTunes onto your iPods icon.

The second way to add video is to sync it, which means it will automatically add all video from a select TV show or podcast. This is the easiest way to add video to your iPod and by default, your iPod should do this automatically, but you may need to set your iPod to sync so that it does this each time it connects.
By following these instructions, it should be a breeze adding those awesome videos to your iPod Classic. Enjoy!
