A certain level of education is certainly necessary to succeed in many areas of life in today's world. It would be very difficult to gain employment in a position that rewarded one with a good income if you had not at least completed year 10 at high school in these times. Indeed many positions would have a minimum requirement of year 12.
Then, of course there are many other careers that would require university qualifications or some other tertiary education beyond high school. Without such a level of education you wouldn't even be able to get in on the ground floor.
However, there have always been - and always will be - those individuals who are highly successful in the bigger game of life beyond school in spite of lacking an advanced education. Some have not even achieved satisfactory results in the most basic subjects in the lower grades of school. Indeed some of the most successful business entrepreneurs in the world have been a total failure at school. Some of them have been dyslexic or had other learning difficulties. What's more, many of them have been told by teachers that they will never amount to anything. It seems that such a comment has only spurred them on to prove the teacher wrong.
Success in life depends on so much more than a high level of education. It's one of those ironies in life that sometimes those who are the most learned and have heads loaded with book knowledge are the most useless when it comes to life outside the walls of educational institutions.

Of course common sense is something that goes a very long way - and common sense is something no school or university can teach. You either have it or you don't. Sometimes those with the least academic minds have oodles of common sense - while some "egg-heads" are sorely deficient in this wonderful life resource.
Success in life also involves passion, drive, motivation and determination. With those qualities the most average student can go a very long way when they take their basic knowledge out into the world and build on it in an area that fires their imagination and creativity. Few people don't have something that they can excel at if they put their mind to it.
Personality is also something that will take a person far in life. If an individual is warm and personable and relates well to people, they can
