the whole night
was worth it
it's nearly dawn
I've stood the whole night
long
the whole night
was worth it
now
to stand beneath the crescent moon
and the sharp blue sky
like shipwrecked Odysseus
on an LIRR platform
the murmurs of
fellow voyagers, other heroes
surround me
is this one
Aeneas?
or that one
Fingal's son?
oh! there stands Tristram
baseball cap pulled low
sharing coffee with Isolde
the whole night was worth it
and now I stand
beneath the dawn
