Reflections on real life heroes

after she collapsed in the waiting room, she refused to leave until it was guaranteed she could visit him everyday. Putting his health above her own, and how could she not? It was her nature. Her children are her heart.

She nursed him though. Gave him hope. She made him come back to her. Such a fighter!
She never complained. Not once.

She's raised her grandchildren, stood outside the jail, and waited for her youngest to understand he'd messed up; he'd have to fix it himself. Gave him hope to start again, she accepted him even flawed and selfish.

She has seen her daughter in the hospital, suicidal thanks to postnatal depressions, and begged her to live. Live for her. For her own children. Tears causing her eyes to float, causing her to turn her head away. She inspired and promised better days.

She painted and wallpapered, moved furniture and built shelves, made houses homes and apartments comfortable. She has been independent proudly, pulling away from self pity, even when others have not.

She is the strongest, tenderest, woman I have known in my life. She is my Mother and my pride in her cannot be measured.

She has taught me how to be a loving Mother, an understanding wife, and a good person. My life would have been incomplete without her in it.

She had led the way for me. Made me find understanding in this world around me, myself, and taught me faith. She loves unconditionally. She is all I want to become, all I aspire to be... My role model. My Angel. My first and last Teacher.

She had made a difference beyond herself. In her family, in her students, and in all who know this quiet, determined, beautiful woman.

She is my greatest hero.
