Easy ways to lose weight

Want to lose weight but don't know how? Well, the secret is through observation of a skinny person. Not a skinny person obsessed with dieting, or a fat person in a thin body (read: gastric bypass patient), but a truly, naturally-thin person.

Thin people behave in ways that those of us who struggle with our weight, instinctively do not. Overweight bodies and minds tend to think of food and physical activity in ways that encourage weight gain and discourage a lot of movement.

Just get a thin friend and observe his or her eating habits over an extended period of time. Watch the way that he or she treats food and uses her body in daily life. The ability to observe and mimic the habits of naturally-thin, healthy (non-dieting) people may be the key that fat folks need to change their lives forever. Here are some examples:

- Have you ever heard a skinny person claim that they eat A LOT? Well, they lie! I eat A LOT. Go to dinner or lunch with a skinny person and check out their definition of "A LOT". Observe the amount of food they order vs. the amount of food they consume. One or both of these factors will be drastically different from what we as overweight individuals experience on our own plates.
Either 1: The skinny person will order a regular-sized meal instead of a "biggie" size.
And/Or 2: The skinny person will not eat the entire order AND they skip [most of] the fries!

- Overweight people tend to finish their entire plate. Your thin friend always leaves food on her plate.

- Do you eat when you're not really hungry? Because you're bored or tired or depressed or happy? Is food your emotional outlet a way to celebrate or a way to console? Believe me when I say, skinny people do not use food in this way. They actually only eat when they're hungry. If they do snack, it's such a small bite that it's almost non-existent. AND, skinny people do not hold food in such high esteem it's there to fuel their bodies and nothing else. There is no soul-level enjoyment sparked when they get their first bite of their favorite meal. Believe me, I know all about that soul-level sensation!

- Hang out with a skinny person for the day. Do they seem to care whether they park right at the front entrance of the store? We fat folks struggle and strive to make sure that we get as close to the front door of the mall as possible.

- Does a skinny person take the stairs if the elevator is crowded or do they wait another two minutes for the next elevator so that they don't have to walk?

- A thin person tends to be naturally more physically active than an overweight person. Now, there are exceptions to every rule, but watch and you will confirm that this is true, for the most part.

Observation is the key to finding the answer to some of life's biggest problems. If we learn to observe and then implement some of these thin-people tricks and we will be one of them in NO time! Remember:
Control meal portions
Don't over-eat
Eat to live, instead of living to eat.
Move more Turn off the TV and clean, or fold laundry standing up, or garden, or mow the lawn, or play catch with the kids, or....Options are endless.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator and take the first parking spot available, not the one closest to the door.
