Running definitly burns calories fast, but some of us arn't able to run for long periods of time. I can barely run for 5 minutes straight simply because I am big breasted and after a while it's painful. Recently I discovered that you CAN walk and burn the same amount of calories as running but there are a few things you should do:
- Start off by walking at a slow but steady pace for about 5 minutes. This warms up your body and prepairs it for cardio.
- Have a target heart rate in mind like 145 or 150. This is the Heart rate you will maintain throughout the workout.
- Once you are warmed up pick up speed and begin walking at a faster pace.
- Then once you get your heart rate up begin walking at an incline, (this is the key).
*If you do not own a treadmill then go on a hike or a steep street in your area.
- Maintain this for at least 15 minutes straight and make sure you keep your heart rate at your target rate.
This workout burns calories just as fast as running but doesnt put as much stress on the body like running does. 15 minutes a day is all you need. If you can't do this workout daily then make your workout longer for 20-30 minutes 3 times a week. It will improve your health and you will start seeing results quickly. But best of all you will feel good about yourself!
