The ipod is a simple yet elegant ultimate media device that can do various things, but even some times this digital device has its flaws. First of, if you yet don't know what an Ipod is, it's a generally new device that can come as a mp3 player or even phone. The ipod, depending on the model, has the abilities listen to music, view photos, play videos, and can even be used to store data. So now that you have a general idea, you'll know what your tackling before you start fixing it.
Why does an ipod freeze? There are multiple reasons why an ipod could stop functioning, first one could be that it is outside of functioning temperatures. Second reason is that the hard drive is responding to slowly to all your button inputs. And a final reason would be merely from a random event such as dropping it. Which ever reason it might be, the problem can be fixed in a simple manner.
If the ipod is broken and it is confirmed that it will not scroll or move, then you can take 2 actions to fixing it. One, and probably the first one you should try, is turning off the power. If you can hold down the play/pause button until the ipod turns off, then that's the end of the problem. But if turning it off is not successful, you will need to try the next step.
The next step to turning of the ipod after it freezes is to restart it, this is done with a series of button commands. First shift the hold button on, and then shift it off. After you have done that, hold the center and play/pause buttons until the screen goes dark and the ipod logo shows up. You have to hold the center and play/pause buttons for about 6 seconds until it will restart. This method most of the time works, it will turn it off and restart it. But if turning it off, or even restarting it won't work, there is the easy but long last step.
In this step, you simply do the most logical thing aside from the first 2 methods. You let the battery run out, after all else fails. Leave the ipod in it's current frozen state. Depending on how much battery life it had left, the time taking the battery to die will vary. After the ipod battery has died out completely, connect it back to the computer or wall charger and see if it turns on. It should show the ipod logo then show the low ipod battery logo soon after. Let the battery charge and then the ipod should start functioning afterwords. And if yet again turning off the ipod, restarting it, or letting the ipod battery run out has not worked. There is the very last option of resending your ipod.
If your ipod has a warranty on it, then simply find an apple store and get an exchange. But you will get charged a small fee for shipping though. If you don't have a warranty, find a company that fixes ipod problems. But if it freezes the first 3 methods should return the ipod to normal. The ipod rarely will be needed to be replaced. These methods should be helpful when the question arises, "what to do if your ipod freezes"?
