Ten simple and easy ways to be in good shape

to eat out during weekends but instead of eating out, this time we opted to have a lesson in ballroom dancing for a change. It is quite fun and I am looking forward to having more lessons in the summer. It encouraged me to keep fit in the winter so I have the stamina to finish an hour of dancing lessons.

The trick is to try something new once in a while to avoid falling into a rut and staying there.

MAINTAIN A HEALTHY SPIRITUAL LIFE

Thoughts are the basis of spirituality. Daily meditation can keep us in touch with our convictions about our role and purpose in life in relation to other people. Though it would seem less obvious, spirituality enables us to respect and know ourselves more and allow us to stay away from drugs, heavy drinking and a generally unhealthy and destructive way of life.

Spirituality is our compass in life's tortuous highway.It provides the ability to gravitate towards things and people that will give us a positive influence in life, encouraging us toward constructive pursuits. Time should be given to building spirituality in community with others to keep us motivated, to have fun and to provide support in trying times.

A lot of people in the public eye are so engrossed in their careers that they rarely have time to nurture their spiritual life. Life becomes all about fame and fortune resulting to losing touch of who they are. They may have all the money to hire a trainer and a chef to look good and physically fit all the time, but because of the lack of spirituality, they end up developing mental illness, become alcoholics, drug addicts or worse, end up dead.

KEEP ON LEARNING ABOUT FITNESS

As our roles change from daughter or son to parents and grandparents, so should our fitness strategies. Because the amount and kind of responsibilities change with each role, creativity is important to incorporate and integrate those fitness strategies in our lives.

There might be less time for sports activities when a mother has to take care of her baby. But there is a wealth of information out there on how to get the exercise a mother needs to stay fit( such as redorbit.com). They have a program called Strolling for Fitness where ideas are presented on how to use babies and strollers for exercise.

The point is to have the curiosity and enthusiasm of a teenager so one won't give up on educating oneself about fitness strategies, whether it is about a newly discovered health food, new exercise moves that can be done in the office, or ways of preventing the ravages of age such as osteoporosis.

Books by Deepak Chopra gives ideas on how to delay the aging process which in themselves are ways of staying fit.

Our fitness strategies should evolve with us as we evolve into more mature and wiser individuals.
