Has the voter become irrelevant in US politics

Common sense verses pocket sense! Non-sense verses the incensed! That is the political process of today. No participation, no party affiliation, hollering unfair in disassociation, that is the irrelevant voter of today.

One noted author wrote, politics is "the diplomatic name for the law of the jungle." Today's worldly politics and the land in which it plays, resembles a jungle of voter grief, as politicians are self seeking at the expense of constituents. There are predatory politicians, and "we the people" become their prey.

In the mad race for fortune and fame (you know those high powered oil guys and gals), many politicians side step their responsibilities to the people. They leave the American people vulnerable to fungal-like corruption and unsavory behavior as their goal is monetary gain. Then people are consumed as government ignores their will. Many voters feel as if they are irrelevant and often think their participation in the political process doesn't amount to a hill of beans. They wonder if their vote really counts.

What a misconception! Every vote does count. Ironically, it is the politicians who do not count us! They don't count us in unless we count ourselves in. A politician is supposed to be a public servant; however, the public now serves the politician. We tend to meet their needs as they attempt to ignore ours. Voting machines are skewed, elections are marred by insincerity (recounts required), and the voting process is sometimes doomed; but, the vote still counts!

Our politicians are lost in rampant demagoguery that appeals to the prejudices of people. The goal is to win a select few over by any means necessary; deep pocketed campaign contributions are their guides. Special interest groups are nannies to politicians, as they feed, burp, and change them. Like henchman, politicians attack their own constituencies in rhetorical brown nosing. Divisively, they deal with their political mates in ruthless mannerisms, from one extreme conclusion to another. Wishy-washy Republicans disagree with pandering Democrats and visa versa; legislation lost in limbo. Even though their personal attacks on each other are eye-opening, they have soured the political process; the voters fall victim.

Its time for the voter to insist on change. As voters, we are given the right to vote. As politicians, they are given the right to lead, legislate, and congress. Discipline must return to the political process. Ethics are key! Voters are only "irrelevant" when they do
