quick drop fake to the right a giant rises up with a straight right hand. With the ball elevated above his head and behind him, he slowly sends his arm forward while his other forearm pushes against his leaning opponent. The arc on the shot is a perfect rainbow and the ball drops in the bucket, breaking the all-time scoring record for points in a career (38,387). The Sky hook was Kareem's trademark shot.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar (born as Lew Alcindor) certainly has to be mentioned among the greatest scorers of all time. His goggles and his famed Sky Hook are symbols of grace and style. Not only does he hold the record for most points, he is second only to Michael Jordan in total points scored during the playoffs at 5,762, only 25 less than MJ. His .559 field goal percentage lifetime is better than either Wilt or Michael. Although he won only two scoring titles in his 20 year career, his longevity and creation of the sky hook earns him the right to be mentioned among the best scorers ever.
Finally, honorable mention has to be given to a few players for different reasons. Reggie Miller received mention for his ability to hit the three with deadly accuracy. Allen Iverson appears because he has averaged over 27 ppg career while being under six feet tall and playing in a game full of giants. Karl Malone also receives consideration for his longevity and his text book fundamentals of using the pick and roll with John Stockton to score night after night, without having superhuman abilities.
