Why do we celebrate Christmas? Gifts, kids, traditions, Christ birth, old and new movies or shopping. We all have our own reasons why we spend countless amount of hours, days and months debating in our own minds why we celebrate the winter holiday; and will we continue? The Christmas season started as a pagan holiday celebration the winter season. Christians years ago felt that if they could include Christ into this holiday they could not only spread the gospel but celebrate with others and hopefully would not be shunned, beaten or stoned. Christ resurrection is a dated fact. Jesus's date of birth was unknown due to the fact that the resurrection was and is sole bases for Christians.
A follower of Christ who trusts and follows God's guidance should be very secure and can celebrate in their heart and mind each day not just once a year the joy of having a God that loves them and a Lord who was born, died and then rose on the third day.
Using the Christmas time to share with others the story of Jesus and to hopefully plant the seed to salvation should continue each year whether it is called Christmas or Season Jolly Times.
If shopping and extending you credit or spending money you don't have is a routine issue during Christmas time then you might want to refocus your celebration habits and go back to the basic and the Christians meaning for the seasons.
Loneliness, suicides and theft grows and surpasses happiness during this time, if we would stop with the "I got to have" attitude and reflect on the gift of life that only God could give we might slowly see a change for the good and a sparkle in every man, woman and child.
If non-believers would spend more time enjoying life and less time trying to take away what we feel is a day of celebration I feel this world that is filled with different people could get alone a little better and if Christians would truly embrace and celebrate the holiday we call ours in true fashion others might see the true joy and happiness that our Lord gives us and they just might ask you the reason why.
In closing, if your a Christian and you spend the Christmas holidays with the Lord in mind and you are spreading the word then keeping Christ in Christmas should be easy and enjoyable. If your not a Christian, why worry about how we spend our holidays enjoy your and when things start to seem unbearable remember the one who's birth we are celebrating loves you too.
