How employing a wedding planner can reduce your stress

It's your wedding day. You're at the reception, and your maid of honor just spilled sauce from the chocolate fountain on her dress. Her toast is coming up on the itinerary in five minutes. Do you want to be the one delegating someone to help her wash up? If you have a wedding planner on hand, chances are she's brought some Shout Wipes in her emergency kit and she's ready to handle the crisis.

If you feel yourself crumbling under the stress of wedding planning, or if you're worried that all the details will preoccupy you on the big day, then hiring a wedding planner can be a great way to reduce your stress. A wedding planner doesn't just help you get organized during the frazzled period of wedding planning; they don't just provide recommendations for photographers and DJs that they've previously worked with; and they don't just check in with you the week before the big day to make sure you haven't forgotten to give the musicians their sheet music. A wedding planner is someone who makes it their job to handle the details of your wedding day when all you want to do is soak in the moment.

Wedding planning can be a stressful undertaking as it is. Hiring a wedding planner may be an added expense to your wedding budget, but their expertise and objectivity often come in handy far more than a well-meaning friend who offers to stand in as the day-of coordinator. When your family and friends are at your wedding, they want to enjoy the day along with you. A wedding planner, however, comes to your wedding with a professional goal; it's in their best interest to make sure things run smoothly for you, and you don't have to spend your time worrying about possible wedding mishaps.

Besides reducing your stress on the actual wedding day, a wedding planner can also help alleviate the stress during the planning phase. A large part of a wedding planner's job is to know the local wedding scene, including the ceremony and reception sites and the vendors. They can help cut down on the time you spend researching these sorts of details for your wedding. Their job is to spend time on the details that would otherwise take up your own precious free time.

A wedding planner can cut down your stress whether you hire them to be hands-on with the planning or just to be present on the big day. Things run much more smoothly when someone is focusing full-time on the day's itinerary. If no one is keeping things moving along, your guests will notice if they're kept waiting for the buffet to open or for the couple finally to cut the cake. But with the help of a planner, you can focus on the beauty of starting your new life with your sweetie and being surrounded by loved ones - plus you might just find your guests commending how smoothly your special day went.
