In a moment everything changed. I gazed into Jerry's face, seeing a mirror of my own feelings and something more.
This morning as always we woke and after a sleepy, sexy kiss managed to untangle our arms and legs. I grabbed my robe from the end of the bed and raced to the bathroom, reaching it mere seconds ahead of my husband. A swat on my behind punished me for being fast on my feet.
In all our forty years of marriage, he beat me to the punch only once. After all, he had to run around the end of the bed, while I had the advantage of a straight shot to the target.
"You can always make the coffee while you're waiting." I taunted him. With an exaggerated groan of pain, he headed toward the kitchen.
Finishing my first mission, I moved on to the shower. A dollop of peach-scented liquid soap in my hands turned into mountains of lather under the onslaught of the shower. To avoid a fragrance battle, I continued with peach shampoo and conditioner.
Just before I turned off the water, the soothing warmth turned icy cold! Jerry's revenge! His laughter erupted outside the shower curtain. I glanced down in time to see the hand pulling back from the hot water handle and disappearing into the bathroom.
"You miserable brat!" I yelped through chattering teeth. My retaliating towel swat turned into a giggling wrestling match which would have surprised our children.

A sumptuous breakfast served by my darling husband was a glorious end to our private time. Waffles from scratch, tender bacon, and fresh melon made additions to his renowned Madison Black coffee. Throughout the meal, our fingers danced across the table to touch and be touched.
Jerry's buzz cut hair offered a sharp contrast to the 'waterfall' hairstyle he wore when we first met. My once brunette locks had been invaded by alien white and gray ones. But his blue eyes and my green ones sparkled as they had when they first met on the subway train. Our bodies, though no longer possessing those mighty muscles and tiny waist, still yearned to touch in every way possible. Our lives rang with joy.
"How about joining me in my errands today?" Jerry asked. His voice was muffled as he pulled a polo shirt over his head.
I looked around the room. "Sure, not much on my agenda this morning. Where are we headed?"
"Let's see,"
