Quotes can inspire us to reach for the stars, to go beyond what we think is possible, to dream the "impossible dream". I often use quotes in my writing and here are a few of my favorites from people famous and some not so famous.
"You see things; and you say 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and I say 'Why not?"
George Bernard Shaw
This one I think is a very famous quote but not because of George Bernard Shaw but Edward Kennedy used it in his eulogy at his brother Robert's funeral. Robert Kennedy had quoted Shaw in one of his speeches.
"Always do right - this will gratify some and astonish the rest." Mark Twain
This is one quote I tend to live by. I am always astonished when I tell the clerk at the grocery store that they have undercharged me and they look at me baffled. They can't believe that I would tell them when the advantage is on my side. "Why not" I tell them, I will also tell you when you overcharge me. Honesty is a two way street.
"A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."
Maya Angelou All of us have a song and we need to find that song and sing it to the rafters. These songs are what make us individuals.

"Keep in mind that neither success nor failure is ever final."
Roger Ward Babson
"Better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness."
- Chinese Proverb
"It's a very funny thing about life; if you refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it."
William Somerset Maugham
"You gain strength, experience, and confidence by every experience where you really stop to look fear in the face... You must do the thing you cannot do."
Eleanor Roosevelt
"Success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success."
Dr. Joyce Brothers
"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."
Elizabeth Kubler Ross
"An aim in life is the only fortune worth the finding; and it is not to be found in foreign lands, but
