On the Edge
Balancing
On the edge of control,
My toes touch the void below.
The rush of chaotic air pushes upwards,
Making my eyes water.
It comes from the depths, but
Of what's down there, I'm unsure.
I'm trying to get away from the unknown,
To make my feet move back from the edge,
Pull my uncertain body with them.
But, I'm curious
What will happen if all control is gone,
If I step over this boundary,
Touch my toes in to the shadows
And allow the unknown to envelope me?
Will there be overwhelming darkness
Or life-changing light?
Pain or release?
Perhaps my world will implode
In a supernova of letters, tears and faces.
Will anyone be able to pull me back?
Will they try?

Lost in a sea of faces.
All alone in the crowd.
No one turns an ear,
Though I scream out loud.
Lost alone in the darkness,
Why
