The answer is a resounding yes! The basic annual membership fee for a AAA membership is only $48. That $48 goes a long way in saving you money and giving you peace of mind.
The basic AAA membership will give you many services. The most known service is probably their towing service. AAA will tow your vehicle to the nearest AAA service center at no charge. Battery service- who hasn't needed a jump start at some point? Flat tire service- I personally don't like to get my hands dirty, so to be able to call AAA and have someone come change the tire for me, who could ask for more? Have you ever been riding down the highway only to see your gas light come on just as you pass a sign that says nearest exit 40 miles? AAA delivers gas, and the only thing you have to pay for is the gas, the delivery charge is free. Lock your keys in the car because you pulled into the mall and saw a 50% off sign at the local Macy's and in your excitement you forgot to take the keys with you? AAA will attempt to unlock your doors with their tools and if they have to call a locksmith, they'll reimburse you up to $50.
"What if I never use any of their services?" you may ask. You can still save money on countless items. AAA offers its members savings on prescriptions, eye glasses, tickets to theme parks, tickets to movies, retail stores, savings on oil changes, and travel through the AAA travel agency.
As a Massachusetts consumer I saved quite a bit of money on my auto insurance. Commerce Insurance and AAA have teamed up to give AAA members a discount. Effective April 1st, AAA members will receive 4% off of their auto policies as well as additional coverages at no additional charge.
Peace of mind. I know that I feel a whole lot better when I'm on the highway, traveling for work, that if I break down, run out of gas, or get a flat tire, that I can call AAA who will send one of their service contacts to help me out. If you happen to have a teenager who goes to college, wouldn't you feel better knowing they can call AAA instead of some shady tow company? Wouldn't a AAA membership be a great gift for a grandparent, or anyone you wouldn't want to see stuck on the side of a road with a flat tire?
So ask yourself again, is the AAA membership worth it? I bet you answer yes.
