being tormented and punished severely. How awful to think of a place called hell and believe many will end up there because they didn't believe in one religion or another. Even if you say people send themselves to this place it's very strange to believe we would do this to ourselves knowing the outcome.

Well in a sense we do send our selves to our own hell or heaven. It depends on what you love while here. If you love your self, money, sex, hurting others, etc. Then you will spend eternity with other spirits just like you, and you'll all take turns tormenting each other forever. If you gain love and compassion for all living things in physical forms, you will spend eternity with similar spirits in a level of heaven. There are many levels of heaven and hell. But the longer hell exist the darker it gets. Hell is not like what we were told. Hell is a gathering of dark, evil spirits, some not so dark, others very dark, and they get pleasure in tormenting other spirits. It's a drug to them, they get a buzz, a high from it. And with any drug, the longer you're on it, the more you need to do for the same effect. It's up to each of us.

Let me end with this verse from 2 Corinthians 4:18
18..(It seems to say we need to fix our eyes on the unseen spiritual world, which is eternity, the dwelling place of God.) So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
