People in general shun spirituality because it's the hidden side of ourselves. Science and religion both have taken the path of a one sided world. Everything in our world is dual. Male, female, light, dark, north pole, south pole, etc. Yet we live a single life in physical form. We live in dual worlds. So here's what I think..
Most people do not believe in a spirit world. Oh they may go to church, or pray to their God. But deep down, if we cannot see it in physical form, touch it, smell it, taste or hear it, then it doesn't really exist. A lot of us claim there is a God, even though there are several versions, depending on where you were born and how your parents raised you. (Isn't it funny that all the different religions claim to be the right one?) We pray to this invisible deity and have faith in HIM, without really understanding our religion and it's roots. Few people actually read their holy books, and what they do read they tend to misinterpret. Most religious text are scary, and induce fear in us about what happens if we do not follow the rules of that particular religion. Also the rewards we receive if we do. Streets paved with gold, and/or unlimited virgin sex seems more fantasy than reality to me. Not to pick on Christianity and Muslims only. All the religions seem to get carried away with punishments and rewards.
According to some, we have missed the point of our existence because we live in the physical world using our senses, and ignore the invisible world of spirit, which is actually the mind. The MIND flows through our physical brain carrying messages from the spirit world yet we believe thoughts are products of our individual brains, and exist only in physical reality. Have you ever heard the name, Emanuel Swedenborg? Few people have. He was born in 1668 and died in 1771. He was a scientist and a very good one during that time in history, with numerous writings about many things in the scientific world. But he also wrote extensively about the dual worlds that he claims, (and it certainly is interesting to say the least) exist, and we are all participating in without consciously being aware of it.
The spirit world is where action takes place and the physical world is the reaction to it. Yet because it is unseen to us, we have fooled ourselves into believing our reaction is caused by something in the physical world. Of course it's easy to associate a reaction to some perceived action that the physical world appears to produce. But our reaction
