PLACES TO GO, PEOPLE TO SEE -

"We've got places to go, people to see," Stephanie told her Dalmatian, Max. They looked both ways before crossing the street on their way to the playground. Their favorite bench was empty. From her bench she could see everything, even her own front door. She could hear her mother call when it was time to come home. Stephanie tied Max's leash to the back of the bench as she continued to talk about their adventure. "Max, we're on a big boat in the ocean. We're on our way to see London, Paris, even Rome. How does that sound?"

Max barked in agreement. Closing here eyes, Stephanie began envisioning their great adventure. Suddenly, she felt something furry around her ankles. "Hi, there, what's your name?" The kitten didn't have any tags, but she sure was friendly. She rubbed her check against Stephanie's hand as Stephanie picked her up.
Stephanie held the kitten out to Max. "I want you to meet Max, my best friend."
Max and the kitten rubbed noses.
"See, now we're all friends. I'll sit here for a little while to see if anybody comes to claim you. If they don't, I'll take you home with me."
Stephanie took the leash off Max. He ran around the park while told the kitten about the trip they were taking on the big boat. Stephanie waited all day until it started getting dark.
Stephanie's mother called her to come home. Stephanie called Max. She put the leash back on him, and she set the kitten on his back.
"Walk home slowly, Max," Stephanie told him. "Don't hurt our new friend."
Stephanie looked both ways then crossed the street. When Stephanie got home she gave the kitten a bowl of milk. Her parents told her they would put an ad in the newspaper to try and find the owner, but if no one came to claim the kitten, Stephanie could keep it.

"We've got places to go, people to see." Stephanie announced clapping her hands together.
Max barked.
Stephanie sat on her bed in her pajamas with the map of the United States spread out in front of her. Every night she and Max took turns choosing which state they were going to visit. Stephanie would read aloud from the guidebook, and they would decide if they really wanted to go there. Stephanie took a pad of train tickets she had made on the computer and started to fill them out. One ticket was for Max, the other was for her, then she remembered that, tonight, they had a third passenger.
"Wait!" she shouted. The kitten jumped. "You can't come with us until you have a name. How about Molly?'
The kitten meowed.
Max barked.
"Molly
