Superman does not have Jewish roots.
He is not really attached to any religion since he is not from earth and we have no idea what religion his people had if they even had a religion.
And his earth family wasn't Jewish.
At least in the movies and television or the books it never mentioned what religion his family was but they did have clues and in the clues nothing Jewish ever popped up.
His family celebrated Christmas
And Jews do not they celebrate Hanukkah
So there was clue number one that his family was not Jewish.
I don't know wither the Creator of Superman was Jewish all I know about the Creator was that he was a Canadian who sold his creation to an American and I don't know if the American was a Jewish or not.
But it shouldn't really matter what religion Superman is because superman is basically a God
And as I pointed out above Superman is not from this world.
I would like to believe that Superman belongs to all religion.
Or you can argue that he belongs to none.
Superman really doesn't have to do with any one set religion he belongs to them all just like he belongs to all nationalities.
He is not American
He is not Canadian
He belongs to the world......
He has no roots
the only roots he has is his bond to the human race.
He's roots is for the underdog, the minority, the ones who suffer.
Religion really doesn't come in to play in the comic book world.
I don't think any mention of his believes come into play in any of the comic books.
Why because superman is not about religion?
So any religion can claim that he has roots in that religion and every religion would be right they would also be wrong.
Superman is more political then it is religious.
Its just like giving him a nationality.
He is what ever nationality that tells his story.
He is an alien
Not the kind of alien that a lot of writers write about.
But it is an interesting topic never the less.
What are superman's roots?
We know what they are not........
Even though some people may say other whys.
I think that is what make Superman so enduring.
The fact that he stands alone and can't be pigeon holed into any category.
He marches to his own tune which is an amazing things in this world when so many others march to some one else's tune.
