Tips on sharing "Age-old- wisdom" with your grand children

Studies show that the number of children raised by grand parents is increasing on an alarming rate in America.

In 2000, the number of kinship care giving by grand parents was 2 million but in seven years it has increased a lot because of the following reasons.

1.Simply because many parents are out of their home as they are in Military.

2.Because child has social problems and cannot live with real parents
3.may be parents physical or mental state of mind is not normal to keep the child.
4.Neglect on the part of the parent of any kind like , lake of money, abusive behavior, involved with other relations etc.
5.Co-relation between alcohol and drug abuse , so not capable of caring for the children.

The current grand parents that are taking care of their grand children are working grand parent's. 57% of these grand parents are working parents and 17% of those live in poverty.

I certainly appreciate these grand parents and feel that these grand parents do need lot of support from other follow Americans and every one, they are doing a great service to our society.

They should be provided assistance from our state to take care of these grand children just like any other normal child and provide them the love of mother and father as they are doing the job of kinship which makes them responsible for taking care of those children just like their own.

Raising grand children I admit is hard work and specially if they have behavioral problems which can occur easily because of missing original parents love and care. Effort are made by the state and AARP and other social group. Even these grand parents have an association of their own that works with the state and that is the best way of handling the situation.
Every grand parent should be aware of this association.

These grand parent should know safety for children and child while driving or at home.

Succeeding in school is another big concern that these working grand parents should have on their mind. In case they need any help from the school their grand child go to or from their local department of services are there to help.

I am sure there could be some children with special needs. I know AARP is helping these grand parents providing them this information. In case grand parent need help they should get it form Internet or by calling the nearest state office.

Both the association of grand parents and AARP and the state all have help available for raising these children , cash assistance so these children may not miss any thing in nutrition , and tax credit programs, all information is on their door step to ease the life of the child and their grand parent

Health Insurance is available through Medicare, treatment of all kind.

Housing is a bit of problem but state helps these grand parent to find a suitable housing for these grand children.

Just because these grand parent are doing an outstanding job of raising these children there is help available to them all the time

The rest these parent know themselves. They have the wisdom of a life time and they know what mistakes they have made with their children since they are lucky to live the parental guidance role again, they will give these children a mistake proof upbringing as every one knows practice makes every body perfect. So these grand parents will be perfect parents.

I wish them a lot of luck and congratulate the lucky grand child who got a chance to live a grand life like that.
