Poetry: Questions

Questions.

I look into the face I once knew
To the wave of the heart, I glance through
Dear lover, where have my hopes and dreams gone?
Why, I thought you were the one.

In the silence of the night, I cry
But I ask through my tears, God, why?
I don't understand where my faith went to
But when I ask out loud, the answer is "you".

If there is no hope for me now
If my dreams have shattered away
When will I see light again?
Will life teach me more each day?

Why have I spent my years waiting
When it all could just wash away
Sitting down on my childhood bed
I ask for answers to my questions, I pray.
