When you are thinking about adopting a pet there are many things to think about. First you wonder if you don't already know what kind of pet you would like and then you think about the responsibility that will come with it. When you are ready you will either go to a humane society in your area, Operation Kindness, or the SPCA to name a few. You can also check the many animal adoption websites on the internet. To choose the best website would be rather difficult. There are of course many places to adopt a pet in person, but there are also websites available that will allow you to adopt without having to go and search.

The first website I would recommend is www.Petfinder.com. This site connects you with adoption agencies. It gives important information however, regarding the things you need to know before adopting a pet. It gives you options of adopt a pet other than the typical cat or dog. They have various animals to take a look at such as guinea pigs, reptiles, or birds. It also connects you with other adoption groups to see what animals they have to adopt. If you have a pet to try to find a home for Petfinder.com gives you a chance to opportunity to place an ad in their classifieds.

Another website is www.Animaladoption.com. This site adopts pets to you directly and also has a no kill policy. Nevertheless, they only adopt out cats and dogs. There aren't any availability to adopting birds or rabbits. Animaladoption.com also doesn't offer much information.

www.Animal-Rescue. 1-800-save-a-pet.com is a third website that is very good. It connects you directly to an adoption agency near you. There isn't any direct adoption coming through this site, but it can connect you to a place that can adopt any type of animal you are looking for. The only problem with this site is that it has such a strange domain name that it would not be easy to find unless you heard about it from someone else.

To select the best website overall would have to be Petfinder.com. They simply offer more information and give you a choice to either adopt through them or adopt through another agency. They connect you with other organizations and also give those that are needing to find a home for their pet a way to do so.
