problems have always been defense and just when it looked like they had a settled pair of Woodgate and King, it looks like it's all over for Ledley with this cartilage damage, the sort of injury a fast bowler gets and so used sparingly. In many ways he is the Freddie Flintoff situation in great player but a limited amount left to get out of him. I doubt if Ledley will be having extended contract talks soon with Spurs, or indeed any top club. Dawson is his number two but the kid looks very gauche and naive sometimes in the box and for me he's one of those guys who comes good late twenties early thirties. Spurs wing backs look promising with your Bale coming through but it's all wrong on the right side when the exciting pace of Lennon is switched mid match.
Midfield wise Malbranque and Lennon own the wings but I'm not sure they have a Roy Keane or Vierra in there, a guy that can hold the line in front of the back four. Carrick looked like he would be a colossus there until Uniteds millions tempted him and they haven't really filled that hole. Spurs front line can never be questioned and if Darren Bent wasn't signed in the summer I reckon Berbatov, the superb Robbie Keane and the patient Defoe would have them sitting forth under Martin Jol. For me Keane is the best pound-for-pound striker in the U.K and wit his cocky need for goals and ability to score them from any angle with any part of his body, which he has no issues with putting it in harms way, would have made him a great Man United style striker to rival Mark Hughes. Him and Damien Duff are the two players I really feel Alex should have signed in the late nineties. That 18 million spent on Bent should have been on the defense with guys like Keane in the team, especially a new keeper. Monty Panasar has better handling skills than Mrs. Robinson. Great things are destined for Ramos if he can fix the leaks.
