I may not know what I am talking about but I do know what I think. I think that the whole point of public schools is to teach us to work with others and deal with the problems that occur in our high school lives. I do believe that children who receive home schooling are more than likely smarter than the average student but I don't think they are getting the real world learning that is essential in everyday life.
Although in home schooling you are able to go out more and learn hands on, you are not learning about the relationship part of people. I think that it is important to learn how to work together and resolve differences with people that you may not get along with. How do you learn to do that when you are home schooled though? Maybe it is just something that I have not found in researching but I would like someone to tell me. Also, high school is one of the best ways to learn about the boyfriend/girlfriend parts of life. If you don't get these then you will learn way later and it might not work out as well.
I do agree, however, that children should not have to deal with the bullying and high criticism at such a young age, but that is all part of life. If you don't learn something about it than it'll only hurt more when it actually happens.
These are just my opinions. And notice, although I am still in high school, I did not mention anything about being torn away from friends. I know that that is not the biggest part of schooling. That education is way more important.
If someone would like to tell me more information about home schooling or public schooling than they are welcome. I am always up for learning more. I would really like to see the light in this so that I can make a good decision for my future kids and maybe just to try it out for a little bit.
I know that home schooling takes a lot of acidemic work. They strive to become better. But I also know that, in public schools, it takes a lot more of guts to stand up for what you believe in and what your opinions are. It takes a lot of brains for home schooling, but it takes heart and common sense for public schooling.
