Politics in the real estate industry can hurt those who choose the right from the wrong. For example, the affiliation of which a real estate professional chooses to hold their license under. Who said this, who said what, how to we really know how a real estate career for a professional can advance itself.
The truth is, through my own experience, I have found we really don't know. Let's take recruiting for example. When a brokerage firm is recruiting agents, they will say anything about other brokerage firms to gain another agent on a roster list. Never mind the level of production an agent makes, it's all about head count.
Remember that all real estate professionals are amongst one union of REALTORs. This means, no matter who the affiliation is with, we need to keep in close mind that as a member of NAR, we must cooperate with each other in both business and profession.
The truth behind choosing a company is choose a company that does not speak poorly about other companies, professionals and even committee membership boards, reason is to avoid politics and focus on the future of real estate, the profession and what a real estate professional real job is. That real job is representing a client.
No matter what career path anyone chooses, there will always be politics, however a wise man once said to me, ears open, mouth shut. That means, listen, but do not partake in conversation that has no baring on the profession that one chooses.
In real estate, stay away from the political situation. By doing so, in this industry, you can remain focus on the true meaning of the profession and not the gossip. No matter what career path anyone chooses, success comes to those who do not wrap themselves in others who practice a political method to access self gain.
In the Real Estate Industry, no matter who one chooses to affiliate with, your success will come from your own efforts and putting your client's real estate goals before your own. Remain focused at all times, on the client, not the office gossip or politics that may draw you in, without you even realizing it, like a fish on a hook. Most of all, never mix personal life with office life, reason is because gossip is politics and nothing ever gets repeated the same way twice. And like politics, words can hurt in this profession. But keep in mind that actions speak louder then words. How you are as a Professional is how you earn your clients.
Worry about you, your career, how to build your career and be the best real estate professional you can be for your clients. No matter where you are, your clients will return to you in repeat business because you are the REAL Real Estate Professional.
