"AND THE AWARD GOES TO.. .. .."
This one was a puzzle, I wont deny. Many a day I had skipped past the question, thinking to myself "oh how ridiculous, how am I to pick one of the many billions of people to have inhabited this planet and bless (or burden!) them with the title "World's Most Important Person"? Then it hit me. Just like that; I went from being totally ignorant as to the sole individual whom should receive my vote for the "WMIP" in existence from March 5th 10:11pm back to even beyond the flint stone era, to being the sole person who knows exactly, unequivocally the person most deserved of the title.
Me.
To put it quite simply. The answer was so blightingly obvious that it had eluded my split second thought process. Rivaling the likes of Benjamin Franklin, Mahatma Ghandi, Bill Gates and even the infinite Dalai Lama himself, I won! Who am I? No one special. Not to any of you anyway. But I am my universe; without me there would be nothing, I would not have this life, know this planet or own my own experiences. My life depends on me - - I think that is reason enough to receive the title.
There is no single being that has the right to claim to be the most important person in the history of the world. Why? Because for starters "the world" is a rather ambiguous term. Without getting too philosophical on you; WHOES world are we referring to here? I am yet to be convinced, with my existential reasoning, that we are all experiencing the same existence. "Time" magazine may name whom ever they like, but the truth remains that that person means very little to ME in MY world, and probably even less to those billions around the world whom barely have the time to stop and read a magazine, let alone learn how to read for that matter. The world is far too large and complex a concept to establish a single most important being.
And no, I am neither Echo nor Narcissus reincarnated / or personified .. .. however you want to interpret your ancient Greek Mythology. YOU are the most important person in YOUR world. If you are not, then you need to re-evaluate your presence on this planet. You feel and think and move and create every day. YOU have the POTENTIAL to change this world; therefore YOU are the most important person right here and now.
We each deserve the honor of the most important person ever to live, for the simple reason that we have lived.
