Best ways to reduce stress

ones that you find their words echoed in your own thoughts. Think positively whenever you can, and on top of that, stimulate your brain! Consume a good book, or watch on-line lectures about interesting subjects (ted.com is filled with them).

What you create has a very direct influence on stress levels as well. Stay organized! If you create messes, clean them up at the end of each day, so your to-do list doesn't follow you to bed. Speaking of do-to lists, they can fix forgetfulness, and if you tend to lay awake planning for the next day, keep a pen and paper by your bed. Once a task is written down, you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Caring for your body isn't only about what you put into it, but what you get out of it. Plan a simple morning stretching routine, inspired perhaps by beginner-level yoga, and try jogging. Other ways to add exercise to your day include ditching the elevator for the stairs, parking your car a good distance away from your destination, and walking to the corner store instead of driving.

With all the rules we have to follow to get along peacefully with one another in a functioning society, it's a good idea to let loose when you can. Journal, blog, paint, draw, sculpt, sew, knit, dance, sing, anything! Artistic expression means putting your stamp on the world in a way that doesn't offend.

Finally, step back from stressful situations enough to regain your head: listen to your breathing. Once you can do that without feeling out of breath, you'll be equipped with a powerful way to calm your queasy, stressed belly on command.
